Congratulations to Our IB Students

On behalf of the Pembroke community, I congratulate our Class of 2025 on their tremendous IB results which reinforce our School’s proud legacy of academic success.

It is my great honour to share with you preliminary results for our 2025 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) graduates. These devoted learners have enriched Pembroke’s proud legacy as South Australia’s first IB School, following in the footsteps of our inaugural cohort in 1989 guided by co-founding Principal Diana Medlin’s vision to offer a truly global education.

Among our Class of 2025, we had 50 full IB students, and I commend each and every one of them on their exceptional curiosity, grace and resolve throughout their studies. We are extremely proud to report that all of our students expected to complete the programme were awarded the Diploma.

Thus far, highlights from our IB Diploma results include:

  • 88 Merits
  • 207 A Grades
  • Top score – 45/45 (ATAR equivalent 99.95)
  • 16 students 40+ (Distinction)
  • 6 Bilingual Diplomas

In truly remarkable results, Nicole (Zihan) Wang achieved a perfect score of 45 out of 45. On top of receiving the highest grade of 7 for each of her subjects (English A Literature SL, History SL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches SL, French B HL, Biology HL, Chemistry HL), she also achieved an A Grade for her Extended Essay in French B.

Congratulations also go to Charlie Miller who achieved a score of 44 with 7s for Spanish ab initio SL, Environmental Systems and Societies SL, Geography HL, Physics HL and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL, and an A for his Extended Essay in Geography. Other outstanding graduates are Alexandra Burns, Patrick Baulderstone, Oliver Jones and Jacob Robertson who all received a score of 43.

A phenomenal 16 students (33%) achieved a Distinction score of 40+, and our IB cohort collectively recorded 88 Merits and 207 A Grades. It has also been an exceptional year for our Year 11 IB students, including 7 Merits. Further to these incredible results, 6 students achieved a Bilingual IB Diploma which is awarded for linguistic proficiency in two languages. In addition, 17 of our SACE students studied one or more IB subjects this year and performed extremely well, thereby improving their SACE ATAR.

IB Diploma students have the option to have their subjects re-marked. In the past, approximately 10% of grades have been elevated upon re-mark. It is therefore likely that these already sensational results will improve further over coming days.

Final percentage comparisons with national IB Diploma results will be provided in due course, and as always, we are highly confident that our students’ results will compare most favourably both nationally and internationally.

Given the above and the fact that final ATAR conversions are yet to be released for IB Diploma students, analysis of ATAR and tertiary entrance pathways will be included in our comprehensive Year 12 results publication Aim High in the new year.

At the Valedictory Dinner, I illustrated how the Class of 2025 is woven from many invisible threads. This could not be a more apt description for our IB cohort in particular and the IB more widely. Our IB students have been connected by threads with their peers, their teachers and their families. These threads have bound them together over a two-year journey of discovery, academic rigour, inquiry, challenge, critical thinking and global horizons.

Through this unique pathway, intricate threads have entwined skills, knowledge and practice within and across a plethora of learning strands. Each element has been a vital piece of the whole, interconnected and inseparable from the others. Through these threads of learning and caring, both educational and relational, our IB graduates can now go forth with a rich tapestry of solid personal foundations, distinct global mindedness and an eternal commitment to serving others.

While the threads we’ve highlighted in today’s results are indeed a powerful testament to the hard work and perseverance of our IB cohort, it is the threads of individual growth and triumph over adversity that speak volumes. We are incredibly proud of all of these stories and the young people who have striven for personal excellence, be it in the SACE or IB Diploma.

To our graduates, our families and our staff – bravo on everything you have worked tirelessly for in collectively reaching this point. A special thank you goes to Gabriele Walldorf-Davis who is stepping aside from her role as Head of International Baccalaureate – Diploma Programme after 14 years of outstanding leadership at our School. We look forward to Gabi’s continued contributions to the programme and Pembroke.

As we reflect on our Class of 2025, we have no doubt that our newest old scholars will go on to lead lives of purpose, influence and service in shaping a hopeful future. May the threads you have woven at Pembroke be unbreakable, and may you be Stronger Together, Stronger Forever.
