On behalf of the Pembroke community, I congratulate our Class of 2025 on their remarkable SACE results which build upon our School’s proud legacy of academic success.
Over the past few years, it has been a joy to watch this impressive cohort grow in curiosity, in intellect, and most importantly, in character. As I shared at the Valedictory Ceremony, when I met many of them in my first year as Principal, they carried energy and humour, restlessness and possibility. Since then, they have carried light, acting as lanterns for the School and wider community. And now, their light ripples across this year’s SACE results.
Indeed, it is my great honour to share some initial highlights with our community. Most notably, I am immensely proud to report that all Pembroke Year 12 students expected to complete the SACE in 2025 have earned their South Australian Certificate of Education.
Other highlights include:
- 634 A Grades & 158 A+ results
- 59 Merits
- Top ATAR – 99.95
- 47 students top 5% nationally (ATAR 95+)
We are tremendously proud of Kyle Liu who achieved a perfect ATAR of 99.95 and 3 Merits (Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics this year in addition to Merits in Mathematical Methods and Biology in 2024), together with 2 High Distinctions from the University of Adelaide. We congratulate Kyle on these truly amazing accomplishments
We also commend Elaine Chen on her ATAR of 99.85 and 2 Merits as well as 2 High Distinctions from Flinders University, Tina Le who received 99.85 and 2 Merits plus 2 High Distinctions from the University of Adelaide, and Brendan Foeng who achieved an ATAR of 99.75 and 2 Merits along with 2 High Distinctions from Flinders University. A special mention to our Year 11 students with 11 Merits, including Vinuka Kaluwila who received 3 Merits for Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Activating Identities and Futures.
Furthermore, we congratulate Max Davis on earning a Governor of South Australia Commendation for Excellence in the SACE. This honour recognises students who have met the relevant criteria, achieved excellence in accredited SACE subjects and demonstrated the development of one or more SACE capabilities.
15 students achieved an ATAR ranking in the top 1% nationally (ATAR 99+), with 47 students in the top 5% (ATAR 95+) and 82 students in the top 10% (ATAR 90+). 634 A Grades were awarded including 158 A+ Grades, resulting in 59 Merits across 21 subjects.
An incredible 37 Pembroke students completed one or more semesters of university studies, with 7 studying through the University of Adelaide’s Headstart program, 26 in the Flinders University Extension Studies program and 4 through the UniSA ACCELERATE program. Of these, 20 students achieved a High Distinction in two semesters, giving them a perfect scaled score of 20.0 towards their university aggregate, while 33 received a Distinction or more in two semesters, giving them a scaled score of 19.8 or 19.9 towards their university aggregate. All up, our students earned a phenomenal 69 Distinctions/High Distinctions.
Final Year 12 results are calculated from a diverse range of subject choices and programs including VET and International Baccalaureate subjects. 72 of our students completed a VET course, while 17 of our SACE students studied one or more IB subjects this year in addition to our 50 full IB Diploma students. As such, we will be able to share a more complete snapshot of achievements after IB results are released. In 2025, it was also wonderful to have a student complete a School-based apprenticeship, and to see such a broad range of pursuits recognised across our School.
As I have said before, at Pembroke, we celebrate a community of achievement – one that extends beyond academic accolades and merit lists. We recognise that personal achievement is nuanced, individual and profoundly meaningful. And for the Class of 2025, their legacy is not only what they have achieved but in what they illuminated in making Pembroke brighter. Their individual and collective light has shone across the classroom, the schoolyard, the sporting arena, the stage and so much more. Crucially, they have been a beacon in leadership and service – to the School and the broader community, and this light will continue to ripple into the wider world as they find their place beyond school.
In recognising our Class of 2025, I also take this opportunity to sincerely thank the dedicated teachers and staff and devoted families who have helped our students carry their lanterns throughout their schooling journey – it truly does take a village and that is why at Pembroke, we are Stronger Together.
