Changing with the Times

Pembroke is proud to launch our new School Uniform as we change with the times to further support our students in finding their place.

Following extensive consultation with students, parents, staff and other stakeholders throughout our long-running Uniform Review, our new School Uniform has been carefully crafted for the learners of today and tomorrow.

Our last major uniform change occurred more than a generation ago back in 1992 when a new summer uniform was introduced. Now, as we recognise the wants and needs of modern-day students and families, we have moved away from traditional summer and winter uniforms to a trans-seasonal wardrobe with the ability to layer garments and to tailor the selection of items around personal preference. For the Years 3 - 12 Academic Uniform in particular, it means eliminating the need for families to purchase two sets of uniforms for each child.

Other key benefits of our new School Uniform include:

  • ±Ê°ù²¹³¦³Ù¾±³¦²¹±ô¾±³Ù²â
  • °ä´Ç³¾´Ú´Ç°ù³Ù
  • ²Ï³Ü²¹±ô¾±³Ù²â
  • Durability, and therefore cost efficiency
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Improved school spirit

Throughout our Uniform Review, we have been committed to honouring Pembroke’s rich history and unique identity, while ensuring our learners of today and tomorrow can enjoy clothing which is fit-for-purpose, representative and sustainable. Take a look at our journey to date:

The extensive design process has been led by renowned Australian designer Jonathan Ward, OnTrack Sportswear and schoolwear specialist Noone, the latter being our new uniform supplier and School Shop manager. The collective has worked tirelessly through various ideations, concepts and revisions, regularly presenting on site and taking feedback directly from Pembroke community members.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the School Uniform changing?

It’s been more than a generation since Pembroke’s last uniform revision and much has changed in that time. As such, we have endeavoured to honour the School’s rich history and unique identity through look and feel, while providing clothing that is modern, comfortable, durable, fit-for-purpose, representative and versatile in allowing families to choose trans-seasonal items based on personal preference.

Who created the new uniforms?

The new uniforms follow extensive consultation with students, parents, staff and other stakeholders throughout our extensive Uniform Review. A Uniform Review Steering Committee was established including a cross-section of staff spanning leadership, School Shop, Sport, Archives, Admissions, community engagement and more, alongside parent and student representatives. This committee partnered with renowned Australian designer Jonathan Ward, OnTrack Sportswear, schoolwear specialists Noone and other consultants through an extensive design process. The collective has worked tirelessly through various ideations, concepts and revisions, regularly presenting on site and taking feedback directly from Pembroke community members.

Who is our new uniform supplier?

Noone, one of the country’s largest school uniform suppliers, is Australian-owned and has a commitment to ensuring its supply chain is reliable, ethical and sustainable in the production of high-quality garments. Noone is providing Pembroke with a complete package – supplying our new uniforms, managing our School Shop, launching an online store and selling new uniform items at our School Shop as well as Noone’s Campbelltown retail outlet later in 2025.

What are the benefits of the new uniform items?

Arguably the most important benefit is versatility – moving away from traditional summer and winter uniforms to a trans-seasonal wardrobe with the ability to layer garments and to tailor the selection of items around personal preference. For the Years 3 - 12 Academic Uniform in particular, it means eliminating the need for families to purchase two sets of uniforms for each child.

Other benefits include practicality, comfort, quality, durability and therefore cost efficiency, environmental sustainability and improved School spirit. Of course, the new designs also look amazing, and we know our students will wear them with pride.

Will the new uniform items replace the current ones or are they optional additions?

The new uniform items will replace the old ones, so families will need to purchase the new items during the transition period.

Will there be compulsory items within the new uniforms or is it all optional?

With the Years 3 - 12 uniforms, some compulsory items such as the blazer and sport jacket/top will remain, and there will be compulsory accessories for all students, namely hats and socks. However, there will be a range of optional items to select from, providing choice depending on each student’s preference. Details will be provided in the updated Pembroke Uniform Guidelines.

Will House polo shirts be retained as a part of the new designs?

Further information about possible House polo shirts will be provided at a later date.

How should the new uniforms be worn?

Requirements such as compulsory uniform items and allowable combinations will be outlined in the updated Pembroke Uniform Guidelines. In addition, families will be personally assisted by Noone staff during uniform fittings in the School Shop to understand requirements and how the uniforms can best be worn.

Will there still be a summer and a winter uniform?

No. The new uniforms harness a trans-seasonal wardrobe approach where students can wear items based on personal preference, comfort, weather conditions and activities. Note that with the Years 3 - 12 Academic Uniform in particular, some compulsory items such as the blazer will remain; however, there will additionally be a range of optional items to choose from.

Can items from the old uniforms and new uniforms be worn together?

Mostly, students will wear either the old uniform or the new uniform during the transition but not mix elements of both at the one time. However, some flexibility will be provided to families who wish to retain the old blazer for a period of time. Flexibility will also be afforded during the transition where, for example, a student wears the new uniform one day and the old uniform the next if they have not acquired enough new items to wear every day. It will also be fine for a student to wear the new Years 3 - 12 Academic Uniform and change into the old Core/PE Sport Uniform or vice versa depending on which and how many new items have been purchased.

Can we still purchase old uniform items? And will prices be discounted?

The School Shop will continue to sell old uniform items; however, as stock will not be replenished, items will gradually become unavailable during the transition.

The School Shop will communicate with parents around discounted items via Trove.

Can we receive payment for second-hand items at the School Shop?

No. The School Shop is no longer receiving second-hand items for payment; however, families are welcome to donate items to the School which will go to good use through charities, recycling or supporting other families through the transition.

Items that have already been received to sell by consignment will be honoured, with the full sale proceeds provided to families.

What happens with old uniform items?

Families are welcome to donate old items to the School which will go to good use through charities, recycling or supporting other families through the transition. Both Pembroke and Noone are committed to sustainable practices in a shaping a hopeful future for all.

When can we purchase the new uniforms?

Items will begin to roll out from Term 4 (see anticipated timeline above). Further information will be shared with families once items become available.

Where should we purchase the new uniforms?

We recommend families book a fitting for the new uniforms in the School Shop which is now managed by our uniform supplier Noone. This will ensure the best fit and demonstrate how the uniform is worn. Community members are still able to attend the School Shop during opening hours, with further information about booking appointments for new uniform items to be provided as items become available for purchase.

Noone will also have items available at its Campbelltown retail store and via its online store later in 2025, though we recommend families visit the School Shop in the first instance and then consider which purchase options best suit ongoingly once there is familiarity with the new uniform.

How much do the new uniforms cost?

Price lists will be accessible in the School Shop and Noone’s Campbelltown store and also via Noone’s online store as items become available for purchase.

The uniform collective has worked hard to maximise cost efficiencies for families through product durability and the provision of a trans-seasonal wardrobe where families can pick and choose the number and types of items based on preference and need.

What sizes are available? Is there a size guide to help with selection?

A range of sizes will be available and it is recommended that, in the first instance, families book a fitting in the School Shop where Noone staff are trained to ensure correct measurements are taken and that students receive the best fit.

As a general reference, Noone has an online size guide families can view:

Are there specific guidelines on how to wear the new uniform?

The Pembroke Uniform Guidelines are being updated to reflect the uniform transition. The School will share specifics with families, and Noone staff will be able to guide families in store.

How do the new items fare in terms of quality and durability?

Our new uniform supplier is committed to excellence in quality. Indeed, Noone provides a quality guarantee where rigorous testing is undertaken to ensure continuity of colour, fabric and overall quality. Noone uses only recognised mills to provide raw materials which meet or exceed its minimum quality standards. Noone’s commitment to quality is aimed at delivering durable, robust garments that wash and wear to the highest standards.

All garments returned to Noone which have been deemed to have a quality issue are inspected by Noone’s textile technologists.
